The cultural object is a typical 30-year monument of wooden architecture. Its favorable strategic position contributed to the development of several major roads, including the railway line Riga - Saulkrasti construction in 1935, which was electrified more than  20 years later.

 

There is an increasing number of holidaymakers and residents during the summer season, as it was convenient to reach destination because of the train. In the sunniest months of the region population increase  up to 25 thousand.
