Nature Protection Board has established 42 nature parks in territory of Latvia, which includes certain areas of the natural and cultural values. Nature parks are suitable for the characteristic landscape conservation, public education and leisure, maintenance of biodiversity.

 

Centre building is opened from 19th of October in 2012. The building is shaped like a copy of fisherman house „Cēlāji”, which was built in 1966 and located near the Gauja River crossing place. In 1966 the original building was transferred to the Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum.

Beautiful nature in Carnikava Municipality have been highlight years ago. In 1962 was created natural park "Piejūra" with special areas of conservation for landforms and coastal habitats, coastal dunes and old boreal forests, as well as embryonic dunes and rare plant and animal species.

 

Gauja flows into the sea and is a great place for bird watchers, boaters, nature lovers and other vacationers. Despite the fact that river Gauja flow changes there is still remainder of the Gauja river mouth.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Years ago Carnikava Municipality was in Soviet Union and parts of Carnikava region was used to military. Mežgarciems used to be former Soviet air defense troops, where the Soviet Union had the S-75 PGA army base for learning needs. Today, the place can be viewed with guides and you can still see the Soviet heritage sites.

 

 

 

Years ago Carnikava Municipality area was in the Soviet Union, therefore in the territory for safety reasons was built bunkers. They were designed in strategically important places and part of them even today is seen in Carnikava Municipality area, for example in Lilaste.

From 1999 lake stands in barring teritorija and  is protected. The nature reserve occupies 46ha in general, and in particular are known to occur as a rare coastal habitats, coastal dunes, the old boreal forests and many other natural resources.

 

 

Lake line Garezeri are unique geological origins and is the only ones in this tpe of lakes in Vidzeme seaside. Lakes which stretched 3.5 kilometers of territory and includes three narrow (180-220m) line of lakes consists of Northern Garezers, Middle and Southern Garezers.

 

In the 1917th Carnikava was most of the luxurious manor in Vidzeme, which is built by Ernst Reinhold von Mengden around 1774. Manor used to have also a well-groomed park and farm buildings. Unfortunately, during World War manor was destroyed and did not renew anymore.

 

 

 

Outstanding Latvian sculptor Vilnis Titāns has made sculpture "Atceroties" (remembering) which is located in Carnikavas Celebration Square near the railway bridge. Sculpture symbolizes not to give up in spite of everything, eternal rise and eternal suggests a further.

It is called Carnikavas five island owner and it is popular for locals and travelers. The third largest lake in the Municipality is Dzirnezers - in Carnikava Municipality region and it stands across the river Gauja, whre it has connection trough the lake Dzirnupe.
